Example1:  An initial varietal trial was conducted to study the performance of 21 new strains of Toria vis-a-vis 3 checks using an alpha design at Shillongani, Jagdalpur and Kanke with three replications at each of the locations. The seed yield in kg/ha was recorded. The details of strains, design adopted and data obtained are given as under.

Figures in the parenthesis gives the seed yield in kg/ha

  1. Perform the analysis of data for each of the locations separately.
  2. Test the homogeneity of error variances using Bartlettís Chi-square test.
  3. Apply Aitkenís transformation, if error variances are heterogeneous.
  4. Perform the combined analysis of the above data set considering the locations as fixed effects.   /*this is useful for artificially created environments*/
  5. Perform the combined analysis of the above data set considering the locations as random effects.
  6. Prepare a Site Regression (SREG) or GGE Biplot.
